Gear, especially those with helical teeth, are among the most commonly used machine elements. Therefore, this undergraduate thesis has goal of developing an application for designing gears according to ISO 6336. Firstly, the functions that application has to have are discussed, along with list of input and output data. After that, a large portion of this thesis describes and presents the methods used in ISO 6336. The analysis is confined to only gears with external involute gear profile made of steel disk. Profile corrections and profile shift were not discussed. Afterward, flowcharts are presented that form the basis of making the program code in Solidworks VBA Automation module. Two operating modes are possible. First one determines all necessary dimensions of gears for given power, and second verifies user defined gear size for given power. Both operating modes generate SolidWorks model. Finally, the application was tested and the results were documented.
