Summary:

This thesis describes the development process for a workstation for disassembly and analysis of products in an educational environment. The process started by analysing existing workstations available on the market, tools needed for disassembly of targeted types of products as well as tool storage and display solutions. Keeping user safety in mind, the market overview included protection methods and safety gear. A list of requirements such a workstation should meet was made based on the collected data. To further deepen the understanding of the matter and to better define and analyse user requirements, interviews were conducted with professors and a student with experience. Based on their answers, new user requirements were formed that had not yet been recognized during market analysis in the previous step therefore expanding the forementioned list. All formed requirements were then ranked based on acquired information from respondents into primary, secondary and tertiary. A morphological matrix was created showcasing partial solutions for selected subfunctions. Concepts were generated by selecting solutions from the morphological matrix that needed to be evaluated based on criteria with assigned weighting factors. The better concept was chosen for further design development and detailing, with efforts made to eliminate discovered design weaknesses. The design development process followed, highlighting steps and choices made to make the final workstation modular, collaboration appropriate, intuitive for use and suitable for students with little or no prior experience in product disassembly.
