Coordination and communication between stakeholders become complex problems of primary interest in multidisciplinary teamwork on product development. Recent research confirms that current software systems and methodologies for managing development projects still do not provide consistent dynamical updating and propagation of information, especially on low level granularity such as management of design parameters. A research direction for formalising and modelling dynamics of design parameters by using Petri nets and their extensions and variations is proposed. Implementations of such model should improve updating and propagation of information in team communication and enable partial automatization of development process. The aim is to develop more efficient methods for managing complexity in the process of defining values of interrelated parameters and to reduce unnecessary iterations and additional costs.
