Integrating SysML models with knowledge graphs for enhanced functional safety analysis in development of sustainable systems


Summary:

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is an effective methodology for developing complex systems, enabling structured modeling (using SysML) and early identification of potential errors through analysis and simulation. Analyses performed during the development process result in knowledge that supports design decision making. The literature highlights that the correct recording and use of this knowledge can significantly contribute to the design process. Functional safety analyses are extremely demanding and error-prone. However, the integration of SysML models and knowledge records to improve these analyses has not yet been sufficiently explored. Therefore, the aim of this research is to develop a theoretical framework that will explain and enable the integration of system models and knowledge records in the context of functional safety. In addition, the research aims to develop a method for measuring quality indicators of functional safety analysis in such an integrated environment.
